Metcalfe Co., KY, parrot can sing Home on the Range Turkey Bird, a parrot, a recent resident of the Ravenna-Subtle area of Metcalfe County, Kentucky, is one talented bird. And a skeptical judge of character. Turkey Bird, 28 years old at the time he took up residency in Kentucky, had never tolerated Ned Reagin until moving to here. Now, Reagin has won Turkey Bird's endorsement. Turkey Bird will sit on the Columbia restauranteur's shoulder and discourse on many a subject. Turkey Bird's favorite dialogue, however, is with himself. He can sit for hours and carry on a conversation, all alone - a human characteristic more prevalent than many might imagine. Ned is thinking of bringing him to town for a Cafe on the Square concert and a rendition of Home on the Range, Turkey Bird's favorite song. Turkey Bird has not yet mastered the really great songs, My Old Kentucky Home; Columbia the Gem of Kentucky, or the redneck anthem, Thunder Road - which added to his Western Repertoire might easily put the parrot ahead of Pavarotti, at least in Columbia, KY where great music is truly appreciated.
