Lindsey Wilson Volleyball outlasts tenacious Asbury for 3-1 win By Dan White News from Lindsey Wilson Athletics WILMORE, KY - Asbury (KY) University entered the night with 12 straight volleyball wins and for a portion of the match against Lindsey Wilson College on Tuesday, it played like it had forgotten how to lose Luckily the Blue Raiders had opened the night with a decisive 25-15 first-set win and battled to a 25-22 win in the fourth to put together a 3-1 (25-15, 17-25, 25-21, 25-22) win against a strong out of conference test on the road. Freshman Sarah Anderson led the way with a monster match for the Blue Raiders, hitting a match-high 16 kills on 27 swings for a .571 percentage. Her classmate Kirsten King joined her in double figures with 10 kills and senior Kayla Koerber racked up seven kills on just 16 attempts. Junior Brittney Rader and senior Dena Busse paced Asbury with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Lindsey Wilson, winner of its last seven matches, jumped out to a furious start to put Asbury on its heels with a 10-point win in the opening set with the help of a match-high .440 hitting percentage. From there the high hitting marks leveled out and the Blue Raiders found themselves battling the Eagles for every point. Asbury, which, along with Lindsey Wilson, is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll, got its lone set win in the second 25-17. >After Lindsey Wilson took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 win in the third set, it battled the Eagles throughout a fourth set that saw four ties over the last nine points before the Blue Raiders broke away for three straight points at 22-22. Sophomore Alex Kibsey put the match away with Lindsey Wilson leading 24-22 on a service ace which was her first of the match and the team's sixth. Lindsey Wilson finished the match hitting .217 as a team, while Asbury managed a .160 hitting mark. Junior setter Andrea Taylor finished with a match-high 38 assists while Asbury used both freshman Jessie Bartlow and sophomore Mackenzie Burke as setters with 19 assists each.
