Ovaline Hadley Thornsberry, Adair Co., KY native (1941-2011)

She was a member of a large, respected South Adair County, KY, family. She leaves 21 direct living descendants.

Ovaline Thornsberry age 70 years of Chaplin, KY formerly of the Fairplay Community of Adair County, Kentucky passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at her home in Chaplin, KY.

Funeral service Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Elbert Hadley the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the McClister Cemetery, 4136 Fairplay Road, Columbia, KY. The family requests visitation after 4pmCT on Thursday at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Don Blakey, Carlos Cintron, Ronnie Hardin, Scotty Jewel, and Don Rose.

She was born Tuesday, April 8, 1941 in Fairplay, Adair Co., KY, the daughter of Pearl Green Hadley and Preston Hadley. She died Sunday, September 18, 2011, in Chaplin, Nelson Co., KY, at the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 10 days.She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Don Blakey of Chaplin, KY

  • Two daughters: Nita Cintron of West Point, KY; andTina Johnson of Elizabethtown, KY

  • One brother: Clinis Hadley of Fairplay, KY

  • Two sisters: Caroline Spoon of Fairplay, KY; and Catherine Hadley of Fairplay, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Six great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by two brothers Clayton Hadley and Clay Hadley.Ovaline was a retired employee of General Electric in Louisville, KYStotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
