Larry Smith: The Greensburg turnout for Dakota was unbelievable What a tribute to Green County High School's most famous graduate, Dakota Meyer For once, Larry Smith can't find words enough to describe the spectacular turnout in Greensburg, KY, on Saturday, September 17, 2011 for Green County High graduate Dakota Meyer. "Greensburg officials had expected a monster crowd of up to 8,000. The actual number, they now claim is 15,000," he said in a call to CM at 6:28amCT, Monday morning, September 19, 2011. "And get this - Tv stations are estimating a turnout of 20,000! That's double the population of Green County!" "I've never in my life seen a gathering like this one! I was never prouder of Green County than I was on Saturday." Smith, the Operations Manager for Shoreline Communications - The Wave 92.7 and The Big Dawg 99.9 - and one of the area's outstanding photographers, had intended to get photos to share. It was almost impossible, he said, "There was a sea of people." This story was posted on 2011-09-19 06:38:28
