CU Deals Lindsey Wilson Volleyball First Loss of the Season, 3-1 Lindsey Wilson won't get chance to end 16-game CU win streak in rivalry until October 27, when teams meet at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard DR, Columbia, KY Click on headline for full story plus Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson photos By Dan White, Assistant Lindsey Wilson Sports Information Director CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Sarah Anderson tallied 18 kills, 15 digs and five blocks, but it was not good enough for the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team to stay unbeaten as Campbellsville (KY) University put together a 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23) win against the Blue Raiders on Tuesday night, September 5, 2011. The win leveled the Tigers record at 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-South Conference, while Lindsey Wilson fell to 7-1 overall and 0-1 in MSC play. Campbellsville (1-1, 1-0 MSC) has now won 16 straight regular-season games against Lindsey Wilson (7-1, 0-1 MSC), which wont get another chance to end that streak until October 27 when the teams meet against at Biggers Sports Center in Columbia. Senior Shannon Cahill paced Campbellsville with 17 kills in a match that went back-and-forth on multiple occasions. Although the Tigers won the first set 25-23, it was the Blue Raiders who led 23-22 before surrendering the last three points of the set. After the tough loss to open the match, Lindsey Wilson responded with Anderson and fellow freshman Sierra Wilkerson (seven kills, five blocks) leading the way in a furious attack that helped Lindsey Wilson win easily 25-18. But that was the end of runaway sets for the night as Campbellsville used solid defensive play to stall the Blue Raiders and kept putting away balls with Cahill to set up the 25-22 and 25-23 wins in the final two sets. Freshman Kirsten King finished the match with 11 kills for Lindsey Wilson, but also committed seven errors to finish with a .095 hitting percentage, while Anderson got her 18 kills in 33 attempts with just one error or a .515 mark. For the match, Lindsey Wilson hit .264 as a team and was led defensively by senior Rachael Anderson with 23 digs and senior Kayla Koerber with five blocks and six kills on 15 swings for a .333 percentage. -Dan White Next Lindsey Wilson Volleyball hosts University of the Cumberlands at Biggers LWC Volleyball at 6:30pmCT on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 against the University of the Cumberlands of Williamsburg, KY, at Lindsey Wilson's Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard DR, Columbia, KY.
