Sarah Elizabeth Pelly-Dickerson is buried at Barnett's Creek Church Cemetery in Adair County, KY Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Frank Dickerson I don't know from Pumpkin Chapel, but here is a bit of history about "Sallie" Pelly: She did teach school for a time in the region and eventually decided that she didn't want to be a teacher. Ultimately, she moved to Iowa and worked in a store until the outbreak of WWII, when she worked in a defense plant. BR>She returned to Fonthill, in Russell County, where she ran a country store for as long as she was able. Late in life she and my uncle Joe F. Dickerson were married after the death of uncle Joe's first wife. Uncle Joe moved from Illinois and joined aunt "Babe" in the store at Fonthill, for the remainder of their years. Sarah Elizabeth Pelly-Dickerson, also known as Sallie Pearl and Babe, was an exceptional personality and a highly regarded member of our extended family.1885~1963.
