Comer, from Tompkinsville, KY, would be the second Monroe Countian to hold the position in "recent times" were he to win. J. Robert Miller, also from Tompkinsville, KY, was the Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture in the years of Kentucky's 52nd Governor, Louie B. Nunn's administration (1968-1972).
