CU women's soccer voted to finish 2nd in MSC Vote is by Mid-South Conference Coaches. Campbellsville University Lady Tigers meet Byran College in first match of the season, at home at Finley Stadium By Richard RoBards Campbellsville University Sports Information CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Lady Tiger soccer got a vote of pre-season confidence from Mid-South Conference coaches who voted the team to finish second in the league. After a 13-9 season last year and a 5-3 MSC mark (which warranted a tie for third with Cumberlands), Campbellsville will need to show improvement to match what opposing coaches are feeling before the August 27 opener against non-conference foe Bryan College. "Wow, it is good for our program to get the respect of the other coaches," said Thom Jones, coach. "This shows how far our program has come since my first year here. But it won't mean anything unless we perform on the field." Lindsey Wilson received 48 voting points, including six of the eight first-place votes, from the MSC coaches in the conference's annual preseason poll. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. Campbellsville University received 42 voting points, including one first-place vote. Georgetown College is third in the balloting with 36 voting points and the final first-place vote. Campbellsville returns all but three graduated seniors and have added a promising crop of freshman and a transfer. University of the Cumberlands is projected to finish fourth in the conference with 30 voting points, while Shawnee State University is fifth with 27 voting points. University of Rio Grande is sixth (16 voting points) followed by St. Catharine College (15) and University of Pikeville (10). West Virginia University Tech is not listed in the preseason poll due to not being eligible for the MSC regular season championship during the 2011-12 academic year. CU Women's Soccer hosts Bryan College at Finley Stadium Campbellsville will open its season August 27, 2011, at 5pmET/4pmCT against Bryan College at Campbellsville University's Finley Stadium, 204 Tiger Way, Campbellsville, KY.
