Tuck and First Baptist Church, Columbia, KY, holding the program at 3pmCT Click on headline for complete story with August meeting schedule, photo(s) By Marjorie Payne "The August Meeting" at the Eunice Church of God, 12515 Liberty RD, has been held longer than anyone can remember. This year, there will be more services, 10 revival meetings, starting nightly at 6:30pmCT, August 17-26 followed by Homecoming on Sunday, August 28, 2011. We think the tradition goes back morethan 100 years. Elder William A. Payne was the pastor for 15 years and the revival wasbeing held long before he became pastor. Upon his death in 1990, his son, Elder JosephB. Payne, became the Pastor. The old church was torn down on April 7, 2000, and a new sanctuary was built. There were problems during the construction which almost stopped the work. Fortunately, there was Master Builder Gerald Shepherd, an Adair Countian who had returned from building in Indianapolis, IN. The problems occurred just as Shepherd was planning to build his retirement home on Dunnville RD. But this wonderful man dropped everything to help us. He put his own house on hold to oversee the completion of the church, which is much more beautiful than it was with the original plans. With every year, the August Meeting extends one of Adair County's oldest traditions. Countless Preachers and Evangelists have preached in the August Meeting. The 2011 annual revival is August 17-26, 2011, at 6:30pmCT each evening.
Pastor and congregation invite everyone to attend these revival services, and any timethe Lord leads you to attend. God Bless and Keep every one of you. Marjorie Payne This story was posted on 2011-08-14 19:40:43
