Where is a leather repair shop? To ColumbiaMagazine.com I have a question for CM readers. Where can I find a leather repair shop? I have a purse that needs restitching - it's only an inch or so but I can't use it unless I have it repaired. Since most local business choose not to list themselves in the yellow pages of the phone book it's hard to find the services you need. And NO not "everybody knows where they are". Could Columbia Magazine start a business listing service? I know the business that are on the ball already advertise with you but maybe a small list of business with addresses and phone numbers. It might help keep some of our money in the local area. From the Farm - Barbara Armitage Thanks, Barbara Armitage, for another Great Idea. I believe that ColumbiaMagazine.com ought - owes it to the community - to provide this entry level entrepreneurial service. Take some more of the hustle out of the advertising game, and do our small part to encourage new, grass roots enterprises. What if we did a honor system - or voluntary pay- services listing, to give a free text ad to any small business with gross income of less than $20,000 on an annualized basis for new start ups? Or should the amount be more, or less? We hate seeing new businesses fail, in part, sometimes, because of the expense of buying the trappings - the grand openings, the high priced memberships, the expensive advertising, the nifty logo, the expensive store front and lease - before the anybody in the world starts to beat a path to their doorstep. Ideas, anyone? -EW This story was posted on 2011-08-08 10:42:52
