Click on headline for dispatch plus photo(s)

Special Dispatch from Christine Martin

There was a helicopter circling the Barnetts Creek and Sanders Ridge area around 10amCT, today (Friday, August 5, 2011) for well over 1/2 hour. I suspect they were searching for Marijuana and from the actions of those in the helicopter they found it.I believe they had ground support they were directing to the location but I couldn't get pictures. I could not see them from where I stood. I am emailing the pictures of the helicopter, I also have video but I am not sending that at this time. - Christine Martin

Police helicopter over Barnetts Creek, Sanders Ridge

2011-08-05 - NE Adair Co., KY - Photo by Christine Martin.
Christine Martin took this photo of one of the police helicopters flying over the Barnetts Creek/Sanders Ridge area this morning, Friday, August 5, 2011. She speculated that they may have been looking for marijuana, and from their movements, that they found it. Harvest season usually lasts from early August to late October for the crop in South Central Kentucky. It's now illegal to grow marijuana, though the illegal status is often questioned in Kentucky.
