Twin City Drive-In, Horse Cave, Kentucky Twin City Drive-In once stood as testament to free speech and the right of all not to go see moves which would offend Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Tom Chaney The Drive In was built and operated by Kenneth Bale [Bale Oil, Bale Tobacco, South Central Bank]. They often had live shows atop the concessions stand. I don't remember the admission price. There was lots of sneaking in from the fields in back. At some point Kenneth Bale sold it, but I spect television contributed to its slow decline and demise. Folks in town objected to some of the X-rated fare in its latter days. At one point there was a public meeting over that issue. I am told that Bale appeared and made a rousing speech on freedom of artistic expression, free speech and the right of folks to not go see movies which would offend. One of the objections was to the screening of X-rated previews at the showing of featured family films. I remember going to the Twin City one night with my brother-in-law to see the umpteenth run of a movie we had missed - family stuff, I think. We were treated to a preview of a film called "Vampire Virgins" featuring unclad damsels running out of barns. One was clad only with a bat. This story was posted on 2011-08-04 16:49:28
