Kari Chambers named Assistant Softball Coach at Lindsey Wilson

COLUMBIA, KY - Woodstock, GA, native Kari Chambers has been hired as the first full-time assistant softball coach at Lindsey Wilson College, Blue Raider head softball coach Ashley McCool-Cozart announced on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.



"I am so excited to welcome Kari into our Lindsey Wilson softball family," McCool-Cozart said. "She will make a major difference with our pitching staff and furthering the success of our program. She has excelled at a very high level, graduating from a Division I program (Mercer) and there is no doubt in my mind she is going to make our program stronger."

Chambers graduated from Mercer (GA) University in the spring of 2011 with a bachelor's degree of business administration after a three-year pitching career at the school.

She spent her freshman season at Eastern Michigan University before transferring to Mercer as a sophomore.

As a senior at Mercer Chambers finished the season with a 1.53 ERA which ranked 34th in NCAA Division I.

Chambers graduated from Woodstock High School in 2007 where she was named Georgia 5A Pitcher of the Year after leading Woodstock to the state championship.

"Kari was the perfect candidate for the job because of her playing background, passion for the game and overall sense of character," McCool-Cozart said. "I'm excited to see the new ideas and instruction that she will give to our student-athletes."
