Students return to school Thursday, August 4, 2011 Teachers and staff report on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Preparation for opening day readiness follows weeks of pre-opening planning and work By Alan W. Reed News from the The Adair Co., KY School District Multiple coats of wax have been applied to classroom floors. Teachers have re-arranged their rooms and created new bulletin boards to make their classrooms inviting to students. And, the "I Can Statements" prominently posted to ensure classroom goals and objectives are clear to learners. Teachers and staff report August 3, 2011 Darrell Treece, Superintendent for the Adair County school system, says all school employees will report on Wednesday morning, August 3, 2011, for opening day and professional development activities. Adair County teachers and administrators will meet at 7amCT, on Wednesday morning August 3, 2011, at Adair County High School for early breakfast and the official kick off presentation, while school support personnel, known as classified staff, will meet at 7:30amCT at Adair County Elementary School and will be provided breakfast by the Kentucky Education Association. Both groups will later report to their respective schools. David Jones sends reminder to Adair County Drivers David Jones, Transportation Director reminds automobile drivers to keep a watchful eye out for school buses, especially in the peak hours between 6am-7:30amCT and afternoons between 3pm-4:15pmCT. First day for students is Thursday, August 4, 2011. The first day for classes for Adair County students will be this Thursday morning, August 4, 2011. Kindergarten students will also start along with other students. According to officials, there have been no major changes to bus routes or morning and afternoon pickup and delivery times.Pre-school students at Col. William Casey and Adair County Elementary School will not start until Monday, August 22, 2011. Teachers will be contacting pre-school parents prior to the August 22, 2011, start date.Information concerning this year's school calendar is posted on the district website at: Adair Co.
