Mike Watson: How long since flag flew atop Adair Co. Courthouse? From Mike Watson How long since we have seen a flag here? "A large flag has been ordered from Louisville and when it arrives it will be erected on the courthouse cupola, and will wave above the basket." -Adair County News, 25 April 1917--Shortly after the declaration of war by the US Congress, World War I.--Mike Watson Thanks. That must have been a beautiful sight. In fact, I wonder why Mayor Harris (270) 384-2501 and/or Judge Melton (270) 384-4703 haven't yet seen to it that a flag was flown from the top of the historic courthouse this day. It is definitely an idea whose time has come again. -EW This story was posted on 2011-07-26 15:18:14
