Mr. Glen Murray, Green Co., KY (1938-2011)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 35 years and also a Sunday School Teacher. He was a retired Lineman for Taylor County RECC, U.S.A.F. Veteran, and a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54. Mr. Murray was an avid fisherman, hunter, a lifelong farmer, loved to garden, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Glendal Page Murray, 73, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home in Greensburg. He was 73 years, one month and 28 days of age.

The funeral services for Mr. Glen Murray will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 525 Temperance RD, Greensburg, KY with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Dr. Gary Ervin and Bro. Rod Keltner will be officiating. Visitation is requested 4pm-9pmCT, Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, and 7am-12pm noon CT, Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Mike Compton, Tommy Judd, Charles Seaborne, Norman Wayne Paxton, Mike Underwood, and Tim Coffey.

Honorary pallbearers: Vernon Henderson, Benny Aaron, Ron Gaunce, Harry Kesseler, and Lewis Garrison.

Mr. Glendal Page Murray of Greensburg, son of the late Carl Murray and Christine Sullivan Murray, was born on Wednesday, May 23, 1938 in Green Co., KY, and departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home in Greensburg, Green Co., KY. He was 73 years, 1 month and 28 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 35 years and also a Sunday School Teacher. He was a retired Lineman for Taylor County RECC, a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force, and was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54. Mr. Murray was an avid fisherman, hunter, a lifelong farmer, loved to garden, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He united in marriage to Sara Nell Rodgers on August 30, 1958 who survives.

Other survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda Gail and Terry Curry of Richmond, KY

  • A son and daughter-in-law: Shaun Page and Cathy Murray of Greensburg, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Joshua Page Curry and his wife JoAnn of Corbin, Sara-Beth Curry of Richmond, and Casen Page Murray, all of Greensburg, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Reese Curry and Elin Curry both of Corbin, KY

  • Two brothers and a sister-in-law: David and Maggie Murray of Greensburg, KY Kenny Murray of LeGrange, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and many friends
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or the Bethlehem Baptist Church Youth, which can be made at the funeral home.

The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
