President Obama OKs Medal of Honor for Dakota Meyer

News stories are spreading across America the announcement that Columbia, KY resident and Greensburg Native was notified Monday, July 18, 2011, that he will receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Ann Young called CM tonight, Wednesday, July 20, 2011, to let us know that Marine Corps Sgt. Dakota Meyer will receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. The photo above is one she sent to CM when the nation's hero spoke to the student body and staff at Adair County High School during our Veterans Day ceremony. Meyer, who attended Adair County High School and graduated from Green County High School, had already been nominated for the Congressional Medal of honor, the highest award which can be given to military personnel when this photo was taken. Larry Smith writes: Here's a photo of Dakota Meyer. Dakota gave me an interview Saturday morning on 92.7 The Wave. Dakota attended Adair County Schools through the 10th grade and transferred to Green County for his junior and senior year. Dakota is now 23 years old." Meyer received a call Monday morning from President Barack Obama confirming that he will receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.
