Adair Co. advances in State Softball Tournament at Harlan, KY

Adair powers past team from Louisville, KY by 12-2, led by Sammy Jo Kemp (6 RBIs) and Brooklyn Coomer (3 RBIs). Face Greenup Co. at 3pmCT today, Sunday, July 17, 2011. Team is coached by Douchy Matthews and Jo Janes.

The Adair Co. 13-14 year old girls softball AC allstars won their first game of the State tournament in Harlan, KY.

The score was 12-2, with Adair County defeating Valley Sports of Louisville, KY.



The AC allstars were led by Sammy Jo Kemp with 6 RBIs and Brooklyn Coomer had 3 RBIs. Sammy Jo hit an in the park grand slam home run and Brooklyn hit two in the park home runs.

Sydney Bright also joined in on the hit parade by going 3 for 3 at the plate. Sydney had one RBI along with Ashley Bragg. MaKayla Matthews got the start on the mound and picked up win by pitching four innings and giving up only two hits, walking three batters and striking out eight hitters.

Sammy Jo Kemp closed the deal by pitching the final two innings while scattering four hits, striking out one batter, and only giving up two runs. Nealia Baker and Kynadie Hancock put the ball in play and scored one run.

Emily Janes scored a run and had a couple of fine defensive assists from the outfield. Cassie Nuckolls added to the defensive effficiency by gunning down a would be run at the plate. Jordan Janes scored two runs and added her own defensvie gems to the outcome of the game.

The girls played extremely well today!!!

The team they face Sunday, Greenup County, defeated Tri-City All-stars Saturday, in their final at bat by a score of 3-2.
