GRAS reports $57,425.50 in revenues vs. $146,712.45 expenses

Deficit had been made up by payments from Russell and Metcalfe Counties, with balance from Adair, but now Adair will be going alone. Both Russell and Metcalfe declined to continue participation in the latter part of Fiscal Year 2010-2011
Main Fiscal Court July 12 Report: Adair County Fiscal Court Report, July 12, 2011 meeting

From report to Fiscal Court for July 12, 2011 meeting

The Green River Animal Shelter delivered its 2010-2011 Fiscal Year Statistics to Adair Fiscal Court for its July 12, 2011 meeting.

The report showed:
  • Total receipts, including adoptions, $10,155, surrender fees, $690.00, License fees, $735, Donations, $5,650.00, Rescue Fees, $4,195.50, for a total of $57,425.50
  • Expenses: $146,712.45
The shelter took in 1,315 animals from Adair and walkins, 983 from Russell County, and 484 from Metcalfe County.
Incoming cats/kittens were 1,132.
Incoming dogs/puppies were 2,917.
Disposition of animals
592 Animals to Rescue
1,688 Animals Euthanized
In the fiscal year 2010-2011, the difference in the cost of operation of the shelter and the income was borne by payments from Metcalfe and Russell Counties, with the balance coming from the Adair County General Fund.

Following receipt of letters from Adair Fiscal Court raising the contributions requested from Russell and Metcalfe Counties, both counties sent letters announcing they would no longer participate in the Green River Animal Shelter. Some costs savings are expected by the reduction in the number of animals processed through the center, but it remains to be seen whether the deficit at the animal shelter will go up or down.
