Incoming cats/kittens were 1,132.Disposition of animals 592 Animals to RescueIn the fiscal year 2010-2011, the difference in the cost of operation of the shelter and the income was borne by payments from Metcalfe and Russell Counties, with the balance coming from the Adair County General Fund. Following receipt of letters from Adair Fiscal Court raising the contributions requested from Russell and Metcalfe Counties, both counties sent letters announcing they would no longer participate in the Green River Animal Shelter. Some costs savings are expected by the reduction in the number of animals processed through the center, but it remains to be seen whether the deficit at the animal shelter will go up or down.
