Welby Warren, Adair Co., KY (1914-2011)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded North Adair Co., KY family. He leaves 37 direct living descendants. His marriage to Ruby Ethel Dobson Warren endured a remarkable 69 years. He was a farmer, a factory worker, and a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle in Knifley, KY, where he served as a deacon for 34 years

Welby Warren, age 97 years of 10475 Knifley Road, Knifley, KY the Knifley Community passed away Sunday, July 03, 2011 at 7:40pmCT at his home after a short illness.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1pmCT/2pmET, at the Lighthouse Tabernacle, 29 Mt. Tussell RD, Knifley, KY, with Bro. Larry Harrah and Bro. Earl Beams the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Robinson Chapel Cemetery, 10523 Knifley RD, Knifley, KY. The family request visitation after 3pmCT, Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Stotts-Phelps-McQuearyFuneral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, in Columbia, KY and Wednesday from 6am-10amCT at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 11amCT-1pmCT, Wednesday at Lighthouse Tabernacle.



Welby Warren, Adair Co., KY (1914-2011)

He was born Wednesday, June 10, 1914 in Taylor County, KY. He was the son of the late Will and Lettie Robinson Warren. He died Sunday, July 3, 2011, in Knifley, Adair Co., KY, at the age of 97 years, and 23 days.

Mr. Warren is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruby Ethel Dobson Warren of Knifley, KY, and the following:
  • Three daughters: Shirley Burton of Knifley, KY; Brenda Caldwell of Knifley, KY; and Joan Beavers and husband Alan of Knifley, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Nineteen great grandchildren

  • Six great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by two son in laws, Vernon Burton in 2008 and Joseph Austin Caldwell in 2002, by 11 brothers, Olus Warren, Roy Warren, Clyde Warren, Oral Warren, Paul Warren, Estel Warren, Mitchell Warren, Joseph Warren, John Warren, Shelby Warren and Virgil Warren; and one sister, Dora Warren.

Mr. Warren was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Knifley, Ky where he served as a deacon for 34 years and was a farmer and factory worker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
