Lake Cumberland Ag & HES Alumni meets at Cranmer Dr. Adlie Brown of Liberty receives Outstanding Alumni Award. Dr. Melinda Ann Sutton-Barber of Campbellsville is recipient of Outstanding Service Award Click on headline for full story with photo(s) Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com The Lake Cumberland Area UK College of Agriculture & Human Enviromental Sciences Alumni Association met Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Cranmer Dining Center, Lindsey Wilson College, in Columbia, KY. Area President Sue Cravens Stivers of Columbia welcomed a large crowd of UK Alumni along with some of their family members. Prior to a delicious meal, the invocation was given by Danny Wilkinson of Adair County, a former area president of the Association. Prior to the business session, President Stivers introduced the Chapter officers- Vice President Dr. Melinda Barber of Campbellsville, and past president William Wallace Evans of Campbellsville. Secretary is Ryan Williams, who was unable to attend. County Directors introduced were: Dr. Adlie Brown, Jr. of Casey County; Christie Nuetzman of Clinton County; Brenda Cook of Green County, Jana L. Brown of Pulaski County; and Ben Davis of Russell County and Contact Agent Nick Roy, Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources. Following the Business meeting, Updates from the UK College of Agriculture was given by theAdvancement Staff Marci Hicks, Director of Development; Billy Toombs and Amy Van Meter Assistant Directors of Development. Speaker of the evening was Dr. Jimmy Henning, Associate Dean & Director for the UK Cooperative Extension Service who shared information on the future, new developments, programs, 4-H camp facilities, etc. of UK Cooperative Extension. A highlight of the Area meeting was the presentation of Awards. President Stivers along with Dr. Henning and past president William Wallace Evans presented awards to the following: Dr. Adlie Brown, Jr. of Liberty (Casey County) received the Outstanding Alumni Award.Dr. Brown has been actively involved in the Alumni Association and has served as County Director for several years. A life member of the State and Area Association, you will always find him involved in the activities and events. He is now enjoying retirement as a Dentist.Scholarship auction held A scholarship auction was held with the funds going to the Lake Cumberland Area UK Endowment Fund which will provide scholarships to students from the area who wants to attend the UK College of Ag and HES. Door Prizes were given which were provided by some of the counties in the area. Upcoming Dates to Remember: Roundup at UK - September 10. HES Hall of Fame - October 28. Scholarship Luncheon - November 19. All UK Ag & HES Alumni in the Lake Cumberland Area are encouraged to become a member of the Association.
