George Kolbenschlag: Preserve streamside vegetation

Agrees with writer Alicia Bosela on trimming of natural areas at Columbia/Adair County Community & Recreation Center

By George Kolbenschlag

I agree wholeheartedly with Alicia. It will be most worthwhile to preserve some of the areas along the stream in their natural state.

Too often we think it improves a park to remove vegetation God put there for a reason.

We have enough cleared areas within the city limits. I have no problem with clearing an area by the stream so those who wish can sit and watch the frogs and listen to the water, but I believe most of the area along the stream should be left as a natural classroom.

It will not only enhance the park, it will provide a variety of learning opportunities for our children. --George KolbenschlagComments re article 45246. Why this is a special place It is relatively unspoiled
