Sarah Brooke Shaw receives Delta Kappa Gamma scholarship Russell Co. High School graduate from Jamestown, KY, with 4.0 GPA, will attend Lindsey Wilson College this fall Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Cindy Clouse News from Somerset Community College SOMERSET, KY - Sarah Brooke Shaw of Jamestown, KY, was awarded a $350.00 scholarship by the Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She will be a freshman majoring in secondary education. at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY, this fall. Shaw is the 18 year old daughter of Larry and Donna Shaw of Jamestown. She graduated from Russell County High School, Russell Springs, KY, in 2011 with a 4.0 grade point average. While attending high school, Shaw was a member of the volleyball and softball teams, member of FFA, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Delta Kappa Gamma promotes the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Formed in 1929, its Founders believed that an organization of women teachers, selected from among the best in the profession and united by common purposes, would have an opportunity for rendering real service to education. Delta Kappa Gamma also provides members with fellowship, friendship and support and it offers mentors to women educators, providing mutual support and interaction in all educational fields and at all levels. The local Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter's Professional Affairs/Scholarship Committee consists of Kathy Lewis, Somerset Community College Professor; Martha Deitz, SCC Associate Professor; Dana Muse, SCC Professor; and Alfredda Stearns, Principal at Clinton County Area Technology Center.
