Ruth Gray, Cumberland Co., KY (1938-2011)

She was a native of Clinton County and the matriarch of a large, respected family with deep ties in Cumberland, Clinton, and Monroe Counties of Kentucky

Ruth Gray, age 73, of Burkesville, KY, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at 2pmCT, at Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main ST, Burkesville, KY, with Rev. Robert Morris, and Bro. Raymond Castillo officiating. Burial will be in the Marrowbone Cemetery. Visitation is 1pm-9pmCT on Monday, June 27, 2011, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, in Burkesville.


Ruth Gray, Cumberland Co., KY (1938-2011)

Ruth Gray was born in Clinton Co., KY, on Monday, May 23, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Ethel Coop Hughes, and the late Millard Hughes. She died Sunday, June 26, 2011, in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, at the age of 73 years, 1 months, and 3 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Worth Gray, two brothers, Bobby Harold Hughes; William Edward Hughes; on sister, Betty Lorene Hughes; five stepchildren; Charles Gray, Dorotha Garmon; Evelyn Logan; Helen Baker; Ruth L. Gray.

Survivors the following:
  • One daughter: Jennifer (Robert) Conner of Gamaliel, KY

  • One son: Jr. "Pickbird" (Teresa) Gray of Burkesville, KY

  • Two brothers: Carl Hughes of Celina, TN; Virgil Hughes of Louisville, KY

  • Three sisters: Hilda Walker of Chicago, IL; Macie Lewis of Burkesville, KY; Mary Edna Gilbert of Burkesville, KY

  • Five step children: Dudley Gray of Burkesville, KY; Edna Wolfe of Louisville, KY; Jane Baldwin of Louisville, KY; Virginia Guthrie of Shepherdsville, KY; W L Gray of Indianapolis, IN

  • Five grandchildren: Briana Gray, Jaime Poland, Jarrod McMillan Jeanne McMillan,and Misty Cropper

  • Five great grandchildren: Briley Weigleb, Gracie Cash, John Eric Cash, Keely Poland, and Maddie Graham

  • Thirty four step grandchildren

  • And a host of step great grandchildren also survive
