Mark Hale on grammar: Lighten up - there are bigger issues And he chooses to use proper speech in business; but may use local dialect at the store. There are bigger issues, he says, than how a person uses the word "done." By Mark Hale I know CM has received its share of comments on this article but I would really like to throw in my 3/4 cents worth. I travel a lot of different places and they all have their share of bad grammar folks. While it may not be the most proper thing to do to write with poor grammar it is different when speaking one on one. Admittedly when I address a crowd in public I do my best to use correct grammar and speak clearly. But when I'm a loafin down et the Hardscratchin store, that's a nuther ball game. I am very proud of my "southern draw" some folks think it's an accent, but they are the ones with the accents, not me. I guess what I'm trying to say in a nutshell is "lighten up." There are too many other things to worry about then how someone chooses to use the word "done." What difference does it make? If they don't care why should anybody else. Anyway I hope you and yours are well. Thanks, Mark --Mark HaleComments above re article 45164 Grammar Usage Totally agrees with California writer This story was posted on 2011-06-26 06:18:55
