Mary Keltner sends link on new tick-borne disease Mary Keltner sends a link to a story: Once Rare, Infection by Tick Bites Spreads/Another infection caused by tick bites is spreading in the Lower Hudson Valley, and in other parts of the Northeast and the Upper Midwest by Laurie Tarkan on the New York Times website. Many can remember when tick borne lyme disease was only a northeastern disease, but today it is all too common in Kentucky. Ticks are some of the most dangerous creature in the outdoors. They are controlled to some extent, by rattlesnakes and other animals which prey on rodents and control rodent populations. Rodents are favored tick hosts. Comments and ideas on enjoying the outdoors and being safe from ticks are welcome. -CM This story was posted on 2011-06-22 07:39:58
