Ruth Magdalene Jones, Green Co., KY (1924-2011) She was beloved citizen of Green County, best remembered by many as the pianist for Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church during her father's ministry there. She began her career as a bookkeeper at Sam Swope dealership in Elizabethtown, KY. She was librarian for Adair and Green County Public Libraries, She spent many years working in the offices of Dr. Hardy Baruch Mercer and Dr. George Cheatham. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 10amCT at the Greensburg Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Brantley officiating. Ruth Magdalene Jones, Green Co., KY (1924-2011) Ruth was born in the Crail Hope community of Green Co., KY, on Saturday, June 21, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Veachel Andrew (V.A.) Jones and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Lambirth Jones, She died at her home in Greensburg, Green Co., KY, Sunday, June 19, 2011. She was eighty-six years, eleven months and twenty-eight days of age. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 would have begun her 87th year. She began her career as bookkeeper for the Sam Swope Dealership in Elizabethtown, KY, and Librarian for the Adair and Green County Kentucky Public Libraries. She spent many years working in the offices of Dr. George C. Cheatham, MD and Dr. Hardy B. Mercer, DDS. She may best be remembered for the many years she was pianist for the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church during her father's ministry. Ruth was a devout Christian, devoted daughter and loving sister. Ruth is survived by the following:
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. Emery Earl Jones and his wife, Ava Hedgespeth Jones. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Mary Kate Moore Scholarship Fund or the Greensburg Cemetery Fund.
