Turning 65 is time to reflect for Adair Countian in Louisville, KY

She still remembers the good old days and says she will always be proud to be from Columbia, KY.

by Von Price

First of all. I just want to wish all of my fellow classmates a big birthday this year. This is the year that we become official senior citizens. We become 65 years old.

Some might have already reached that milestone, but Friday is my big day.

I can remember when my mother was 65 and I thought I would never be that old! When you are young, you think that time will never pass.

Oh, how fast those days pass. My mother used to say "The older you get the faster the days go by." I just couldn't imagine that.

But how true those words are.

It is amazing to see and read about the young people who are now running things in Columbia. And doing a great job.

I am so proud to see the advances Columbia has made. Just to see the fast food business that came to Adair County.

When someone asks me where I am from, I tell them that I am from Adair County. "Where's that?" is their next question. I ask them if they know where Lindsey Wilson College is, and they always know where that is. Or, even if I ask them if they know where Lake Cumberland is, that always rings a bell.

I guess you could say that today I am just thinkubg back and thinking about where I am from and still remember the good old days.

I will always be proud to be from Columbia, KY.

Thanks for just letting a Senior Citizen say a few words.
