Letter: Remembers Baptisms in Sulphur Creek

Carol Goodin Parker writes:
The location to which Virginia Kimbler Burkett is referring is NOT the mouth of Butler location. It is about one mile from Ella/Goodin's Crossroads on the Sulphur Creek Road at the bottom of what we called Pike Hill. The water was shallow (if it hadn't rained) where cars forded the creek, but the area near the foot bridge was where the baptisms took place. We also used the deeper area beyond the "baptizing spot" as a swimming hole. I have fond memories of many, many baptisms, much swimming, and fun nights of fishing with my dad in that area of Sulphur Creek. I vividly remember my mother being baptized there many years ago. I was a child and found it quite amazing that she was immersed three times - in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Brethren in Christ practice) --Carol Goodin Parker
