VFW Memorial Day Services in Columbia, KY at 2pmCT

At 1:54pmCT, Traffic is blocked detoured on Fairground ST from Young ST to Water Street for the service, which will include an address by Bro. Bill Davenport. A good crowd is on hand for the program.

The Memorial Day Program will be conducted by Columbia VFW Post 6097 today, Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2pmCT at the entry to the Fairgrounds at 413 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY.

Motorists are reminded to drive slowly in the area and to be respectful of the occasion.

Chief Jason Cross of the Columbia Police Department will have a special detachment to maintain the solemnity of the moment, deployed at the direction of Columbia Mayor Mark D. Harris.

The opening of the City swimming pool was delayed by the Columbia Parks and Recreation Board to help assure that no traffic would intrude on this, one of Columbia's great traditional events.
