Seth Allen Akin, formerly of Adair Co., Ky (1984-2011)

He was a native of Taylor Co., KY, a member of a large, respected South Central Kentucky family. He served his country in Iraq for 15 months. He was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Amvets and the DAV. He will be accorded full military honors by VFW Post 6097 in burial services at Antioch Cemetery near Sparksville, in Adair Co., KY

Seth Allen Akin, 26, of Somerset, formerly of Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral service: Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Allen Fisher officiating. Burial in Antioch Cemetery, 8147 Burkeville RD, Columbia, KY, with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Visitation after 5pm, Friday, May 27, 2011, at the funeral home.

He was born September 4, 1984 in Taylor County, KY. He died May 25, 2011, at his home in Somerset, Pulaski Co., KY at the age of 26 years, 8 months, and 21 days.

Seth served his country in Iraq in the US Army for 15 months. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, AmVets and DAV.

Survivors include the following :
  • His wife: Edna Vazquez Akin of Somerset, KY

  • Three children: Rebecca Lamb of Somerset, Kaitlyn Akin of Columbia, andJasmine Akin of Somerset, KY

  • His mother: Sherry Rogers Allin and her husband Edwin of Somerset, KY

  • His father: Bruce Akin and his special friend, Sonya Wise of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three brothers: Nathan Akin of Columbia, Josh Akin of Somerset, Sidney Allin of Danville, KY

  • His maternal grandmother: Betty Rogers of Columbia, KY

  • His paternal grandmother: Martha Cundiff of Scottsville, KY

  • His brother in arms: Austin Hale of Columbus, OH

  • A special friend: Marshall Miller of Somerset, KY

  • Several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
