Milanovic, Slapeka of LWC named NAIA All-Americans Click on headline for complete story, photo of Lindsey Wilson College Women's Tennis stars Slavica Milanovic, Split, Croatia; and Trina Slapeka, Jurmala, Latvia By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY (2011-05-25) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Lindsey Wilson Colleges Slavica Milanovic and Trina Slapeka as 2011 Women's Tennis All-Americans, national office officials announced on Wednesday. Players were selected by the All-America committee. Thirty-two student-athletes were named to the first and second teams, while 13 others were honorable-mention selections. Slapeka, a junior from Jurmala, Latvia was named to the first team after finishing the season with a 14-3 singles record, playing every match from the No. 1 position for the Blue Raiders. Milanovic was named to the second team after finishing 14-5 overall in singles action. The Split, Croatia native split time at the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds for the Blue Raiders. Adding to their resume for making the All-American list was a stellar doubles record as well. Milanovic and Slapeka teamed at the No. 1 doubles position the entire season, finishing 14-5 overall, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Mid-South Conference play. Lindsey Wilson finished the season 13-6 overall and 4-1 in MSC action after being eliminated from the NAIA National Championship with a 5-0 loss against top-seeded Fresno Pacific (CA.) University.
