Lucy Glidewell, 87, of Burkesville, KY, (a resident of Cumberland Valley Manor) passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral services on Friday, May 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Stanley Holman officiating. Burial in the Rose of Sharon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, May 27, 2011, from 9amCT until service time at 2pmCT at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, in Burkesville.



Lucy Glidewell, Burkesville, KY (1923-2011)

Lucy was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on June 24, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Melissa Roach Holman, and the late Henry Clay Holman. She died Monday, May 23, 2011, in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY at the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. R. S. Glidewell; two brothers, Paul Holman and Robert Holman; two sisters, Lovie Whitley and Roxie Holman.

She was a member of Rose of Sharon United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors the following:
  • Four nephews, Rex Whitley of Leitchfield, KY, David Holman of Burkesville, KY; Hoy Whitley of Albany, KY; and Richard Holman of Montreal, VA

  • One niece, Virginia Key of Cave City, KY; and a host of great nieces and nephews also survive.
Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, Inc., Burkesville, KY in charge of arrangements.
