David S. Davenport, Russell Springs, KY (1940-2011)

A native of Green Co., KY who started a highly successful newspaper career at the Record-Herald in Greensburg, KY. After moving to Russell Springs, he quickly became one of his adopted Russell County's most highly regarded citizens. He was the publisher of the Russell Springs, KY, Times-Journal and The Russell Register and head of Lake Cumberland Real Estate. He was prominent in political affairs of Russell Co., and had served as Russell County Coroner

David S. Davenport, Old Columbia RD, Russell Springs, KY, died Sunday May 22, 2011, at 10:45amET, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 11amCT, at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N. Main ST, Jamestown, KY with Bro. Richard Morgan officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Russell Co. Memorial Gardens, Russell Springs, KY.

He was born April 25, 1940, in Greensburg, Green Co., KY. He was the son of the late Robert Davenport and the late Elsie (Parson) Davenport. He died Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Danville, Boyle Co., KY at the age of 71 years and 27 days.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Davenport, Russell Springs, KY, and David Chanson Davenport, Lexington, KY; Lisa Wesley, Jamestown, KY; Bob Davenport, Louisville, KY, and Donna Long, Campbellsville, KY.

The H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N. Main ST, Jamestown, KY, in charge of arrangements.
