Letter Carriers annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive On Saturday, May 14, 2011, U. S. Postal Carriers in Columbia and Adair County will again help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County. Now in its 19th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive. Last year carriers in Columbia and Adair County collected just over 5000 lbs of food which was delivered to the Adair County Food Pantry located at 203 S Monroe ST, Columbia, KY. Contributors may also drop off food items at the Columbia Post Office located at 800 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY any time this week. To help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County this year, simply leave a sturdy bag containing nonperishable foods, like canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Food items should be in non-breakable containers such as boxes and cans. Mail carriers will pick up the donations and deliver them to the local food pantry. Supporting the food drive this year are Campbell Soup Company, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the U.S. Postal Service, Feeding America, Valpak, the national Rural Letter Carrier's Association, the AFL-CIO and United Way Worldwide.
