LWC/CU groups start plans for 2011 Operation Christmas Group hopes to exceed record 1,077 Christmas Shoe boxes shipped in 2010 By Duane Bonifer Director of Public Relations, Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY (2011-05-10) - It may still be spring, but members from Campbellsville University and Lindsey Wilson College met on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, with members of Columbia Baptist Church to discuss Christmas. The group met in LWC's Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center to make plans for Operation Christmas Child. Last year, the two schools' freshmen classes combined to collect 1,077 shoe boxes stuffed with toys, school supplies and personal hygiene items shipped to disadvantaged children around the world. This year, the two schools hope to exceed that number. The campaign's theme is "Operation Together for God's Glory - Lindsey Wilson College and Campbellsville University." The 10-member committee met on Tuesday at LWC to discuss possible fundraising projects to pay postage for the boxes. (It costs $7 to mail each box.) The committee members also discussed increased church involvement in both communities and the possibility of establishing a relay center in Adair County. "It is amazing what can be done when we work together for God's glory," said the Rev. Ted Taylor, who is Columbia Baptist Church transitional pastor and Campbellsville professor of Christian studies.
