Over the past several years the students, staff and families of Col. Wm. Casey have made a huge impact on Relay for Life efforts.

Through the leadership of Julie Brockman, a kindergarten teacher at CWC and the current chairperson for Relay for Life, Col. Wm. Casey has worked with Adair Co. Elementary to create the "Class Act" Relay for Life team. For the past three years this team has been the top money earner at the event.

This past week the students at Casey proved once again why this team is always on top. On Friday, May 6, 2011, CWC students celebrated Derby Day by wearing their Derby Hats to school and also by trotting around the track behind the school. Students participated in the "1000 Steps for Hope" walkathon for Relay.

As of Monday, May 9, the students at Casey have raised over $3,000 to donate to the Class Act Relay Team. We never dreamed when we undertook this effort that we could raise so much money in such a little amount of time. Our children and their families are just another example of the overwhelming generosity and kindness that can be found in Columbia and Adair County. Patty Jones, Principal, Col. Wm. Casey School, 222 Gen. John Adair DR, Columbia, KY.
