AIMS Offers Instructional Support for Adair Teachers From American quilts to sharks teeth. If you're a teacher, chances are Pam Geisselhardt will have what you need. Click on headline for full story plus photo(s) by Alan Reed News from the Adair County School District Pam Geisselhardt began thinking about the need for a centralized location to house unique teaching materials. From her vision, AIMS was born. AIMS is an acronym for Adair Instructional Materials Support. It is housed in the modular unit located behind Col. Wm. Casey Elementary and John Adair Intermediate schools. "I'm constantly collecting. And I keep my ears open. When I hear about something teachers are working on, I can often get materials in their hands to make learning more relevant to their students," said Geisselhardt. "Need sharks teeth? We have plenty of them. I also have a set of posters on American quilts." Geisselhardt encourages teachers to just come browse the educational treasure trove, and check out what they need. Materials are arranged by grade level and subject area. "They may be surprised at what they'll find." Pam Geisselhardt is Gifted and Talented Coordinator, but emphasizes the AIMS mission includes working with all teachers across the district. Materials may also be made available to anyone in Adair County who works with instruction. She can be reached through Col. William Casey Elementary at (270) 384-3367. -Alan Reed This story was posted on 2011-04-29 15:24:42
