Columbia Post Office was in Mouser Real Estate office. For a fact David Wells writes: This was the corner post office prior to moving to hotel building. When I remodeled the office in 1962 there were still signs of the layout of the partitions. At the "pickup" window the floor is worn where customers turned to leave the office. The parcel window was on the right side of the office and the left side had the "boxes". The mail was brought in through the barber shop (the famed Travis Scott/Rollen Coomer/Wid Harris barber shop -CM) area. - David WellsThat establishes the fact. Thanks, David Wells, for coming up with the definitive answer. We're hoping a history expert will be able to come up with the exact years the post office was at the corner, and maybe someone will have a photo or four or more.-EW This story was posted on 2011-04-26 05:58:26
