Nine Adair County Middle School students recently participated in the Duke University Talent Identification Program and were recently honored for their exceptional academic abilities.

According to Pam Geisselhardt, Gifted and Talented Coordinator for Adair County Schools, a student must perform at a very high level on state testing in order to be considered for selection into the Talent Identification Program.

"These students deserve much recognition," said Geisselhardt. "We should all be very proud of them."

As part of the Duke's Seventh-grade Talent Search, the students could choose either the ACT or SAT. These college entry exams are usually reserved for high school students prior to graduation. All nine of the middle school students performed well and qualified for state and national recognition. Courtney Green also qualified for the Center for Summer Studies.
