James Mayo Cooksey, Metcalfe Co., KY (d. April 17, 2011)

He was a member of a respected Metcalfe Co., KY family, a veteran of World War II, and had retired after 24 years with Fawcett Printing Co. in Louisville, KY; he was also a carpenter

James Mayo Cooksey, age 90, of Louisville went be the Lord Sunday, April17, 2011.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1pm until 8pmCT Tuesday and after 9amCT, Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the funeral home.



He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 533rd boat and shore regiment company; amphibious Engineers. Before his retirement he worked at Fawcett Printing for 24 years and was a carpenter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pauline Knight Cooksey, Louisville, KY, and the following:
  • Son Scott of Louisville, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Eric and Amanda Cooksey of Tampa, FL

  • A sister Dottie Peace of LaGrange, KY
He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Zidnor and Cora Alice Fraiser Cooksey and five siblings.

He will be greatly missed.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
