LWC Volleyball adds Wilkerson to 2011 Recruiting Class Click on headline for full story plus photo(s) By Dan White, LWC Sports Information COLUMBIA, KY - Sierra Wilkerson from The Colony, Texas is the fifth member of the 2011 Lindsey Wilson College volleyball recruiting class, Blue Raider head coach Andy Cavins announced on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Wilkerson is a 5-11 middle blocker with experience in Texas club volleyball with Victory Volleyball and was a member of the 2011 Texas 4A State semifinalist team at The Colony High School. Cavins expects Wilkerson to make an immediate impact improving the offense and blocking in the middle for the Blue Raiders. "I'm very excited that we are bringing another Texan to Lindsey Wilson," Cavins said. "Sierra is a long, lean athlete who moves with effortless fluidity. She's also a very calming influence on the court and will instantly improve the quality of our offense and blocking systems in the middle. "Sierra comes from a strong high school program in Texas that made it to the state semifinals. She is at her best on the biggest stage, hitting over .350 and averaging almost a block per set in the state playoffs. We have high expectations for her." Wilkerson plans to major in secondary education at Lindsey Wilson. She was a First Team All-District selection this season after leading her high school to a district championship. A three-year varsity player at The Colony, Wilkerson produced career numbers in 2011, registering 282 kills and leading the team in blocks with 64. Wilkerson said she looks forward to building a winning tradition with the Lindsey Wilson volleyball program. "Lindsey Wilson offers me the best opportunity to continue to be successful in volleyball and academics," Wilkerson said. "I Fell in love with the area and developed a bond with the team during my visit. I believe Coach Cavins has the right experience and attitude to build a winning team."
