Dessie Martin, Metcalfe Co., KY (d. April 16, 2011)

She was a member of a large, respected Metcalfe County family and of Union Chapel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Lynvell Martin and was retired from Topps Manufacturing Co. in Edmonton, KY

Dessie Martin age 88 of Edmonton, KY, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Monday, April 18, 2011, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Sunday, April 17, and after 9amCT, Monday, at the funeral home.



She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Mollie Harris Shoultz.

She was retired from Topps Manufacturing and was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Chris Martin of Edmonton, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Jessica Martin of Edmonton, KY; Steve Estes of Glasgow, KY; Tammi Demumbrum of Edmonton, KY; Terri Murphy of Bowling Green, KY; Jill Rowe of Louisville, KY; Shannon Rowe, of Columbia, KY; and Mindy Ward of Maryland

  • Six great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren
She is also survived by Black Jack the cat.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lynvell Martin; two children, Gary Estes and Grethel Lou Emerson; a grandson, Jimmy Estes and a great granddaughter, Miranda Estes.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Columbia, KY, in charge of arrangements.
