Lindsey Wilson announces pact with Elizabethtown college Elizabethtown Community & Technical College President Thelma J. White and Lindsey Wilson President William T. Click on headline for full story plus photo(s) By Duane Bonifer News from Lindsey Wilson College ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - Elizabethtown Community & Technical College and Lindsey Wilson College have formed a partnership to expand educational opportunities for Kentuckians. In a joint announcement Thursday, April 14, 2011, at ECTC, ECTC President/CEO Thelma J. White and LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. said the new agreement will provide for the seamless transfer of academic credits between ECTC's associate's degree in applied science degree in human services and LWC's bachelor of arts degree in human services and counseling. "Elizabethtown Community & Technical College and Lindsey Wilson College have long, distinguished records of service to citizens and communities," White said. "This agreement provides new opportunities for students who complete an associate degree at ECTC to continue their study and earn a bachelor's degree at LWC." ECTC graduates who meet LWC admission standards will be eligible for admission to LWC bachelor's program. LWC will accept the credit hours required for an associate's degree at ECTC and apply that credit toward the human services and counseling degree program. The courses will be taught, mostly on weekends, by LWC faculty on the ECTC Elizabethtown campus. Once they transfer into Lindsey Wilson, students who are enrolled full-time can earn a bachelor's degree in human services and counseling from Lindsey Wilson in a little less than two years. The Lindsey Wilson program prepares students to work in the mental-health profession. Admissions, academic and financial assistance counselors from the two institutions will assist students to plan their course of study to ensure a seamless transfer and to maximize available financial resources. "For almost 10 years, Lindsey Wilson has had the privilege of partnering with KCTCS colleges," Luckey said. "Historically, students who transfer into Lindsey Wilson from a KCTCS college are extremely well-prepared academically, they are serious students, and they usually perform very well in the classroom. "Lindsey Wilson is excited to begin this partnership with ECTC, especially because it is located less than one hour from the Lindsey Wilson campus. It's a great partnership, and we look forward to serving the students of ECTC." Almost 8,000 students are enrolled at ECTC, one of 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. ECTC offers associate degrees, certificates and diplomas in 33 academic and technical programs, and the college awards more than 2,100 credentials each year.
