Adair Co. starts process for new Leatherwood Church RD Bridge

Adair County is seeking a permit from the Kentucky Division of Water for the construction of a new bridge on Leatherwood Church Road in the Nell Community, Adair County Magisterial District 4.



The following is posted in Public Notices:
PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Adair County Fiscal Court has filed an application with Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet to construct a new bridge. The property is located on Leatherwood Church Rd; take Edmonton Rd (W80) about 13.2 miles out and turn left onto Leatherwood Church Road. Construction of said bridge will be located approximately 1.5 miles from the Hwy 768. Any comments or objections concerning this application shall be directed to: Kentucky Division of Water, Water Resources Branch, 200 Fair Oaks Ln, Frankfort Office Park, Frankfort KY 40601: 1-502-564-3410
Lisa Lee, Administrative Assistant in the office of County Judge Ann Melton said that this is a first step toward building a new bridge at this location. After the permit is obtained, she said, funding will have to be secured. The list of seven bridges already built during Judge Melton's tenure according to Lisa Lee, Administrative Assistant, includes:
  1. Grassy Creek Bridge over Sulphur Creek, District 1, 2007.
  2. Short Creek Bridge on Dunnville RD, District 1, July 1, 2007.
  3. Spout Springs Bridge on Spout Springs RD, District 6, September 1, 2007
  4. Creekbend Bridge, November 1, 2007
  5. Sulphur Creek Bridge on Sulpher Creek RD, 2010
  6. Cosby Cundiff, District 3, 2010
  7. Purdy-Sano Bridge over Sulphur Creek on Purdy-Sano RD, District 1, March 1, 2010
The estimate for the Leatherwood Church RD bridge, until more exact figures are obtained, is that the cost will be between $100,000 and $150,000.
