Danny Lapchak, CU, is MSC Baseball Player of the Week

Jason McGinnis of Georgetown is Pitcher of the Week.

LOUISVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University's Danny Lapchak is the Mid-South Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Georgetown College's Jason McGinnis is the MSC Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday, March 28, 2011.The MSC weekly award is the first of the season for both Lapchak and McGinnis.



Lapchak hit .471 last week with a home run and six runs batted in to earn MSC Player of the Week. The Yorba Linda, CA, junior shortstop, hit safely in six of seven games last week.

Lapchak scored six times during the week as the Tigers scored double digits in three games as the Tigers recorded a 5-2 record on the week. He concluded the week going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs in the Tigers' 10-2 win over University of the Cumberlands. Lapchak finished the week with a .647 slugging percentage.

This season, Lapchak is batting .265 with a homer and 12 RBIs. He is a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen bases this season.

Campbellsville is 17-11 overall this season and leads the MSC West Division with an 11-3 conference record.

McGinnis pitched a two-hit gem to beat No. 25-ranked University of Rio Grande 2-1 to earn MSC Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Barbourville, WV, junior, lost his no-hit bid in the bottom of the seventh inning, but held on for his third win of the season. McGinnis completed the game allowing the one run on two hits while striking out six RedStorm batters.

This season, McGinnis owns a 3-2 record with a 2.60 earned run average. His ERA ranks 11th in the MSC and his 35 strikeouts this season ranks sixth in the conference.

Georgetown is 20-14 overall this season and is second in the MSC East Division with a 10-6 conference record.

The next baseball weekly awards are scheduled to be announced on Monday, April 4, 2011.
