School Board Chairman congratulates Academic Team!

Fifth out of 161 teams is AWESOME; thanks goes to students, the coach, and to the parents and others who encourage the students year-round.
By Marsha Walker

I am so proud of our ACHS academic team again this year. I learned they received 5th place in the 2011 Kentucky Governor's Cup. I wondered, "Fifth out of how many teams?" I just found the results online at kaac.com and counted the number of school districts in the competition.

They competed against 160 other district teams (if I counted correctly). Fifth out of 161 teams is AWESOME!

All of our schools fared well this year. I give the credit for their success first to the students who work so hard, then to our dedicated coaches and to the support of parents and others who encourage the students year-round. Not only are our students excellent competitors, they also make us proud by the sportsmanship and good character they display at the events.Marsha Walker
