National Champions made clean sweep in Myrtle Beach, SC

Adair County High School Cheerleaders Coach Julie McQueary and the victorious squad and entourage arrived back at home base this afternoon at 2:45pmCT, escorted through town in their Shockley Tours coach by Columbia City Police, Emergency Medical Service units, Columbia/Adair County Fire Department units, and were followed by a long line of cars. It was all in a din of celebratory sirens and horns, past store fronts readied for the parade and cheering bystanders waving placards

They were met in the parking lot at Adair County High School by well-wishers numbering well over 100, there for homecoming hugs, photo opportunities, and a chance to cheer another Adair County group strengthening its own long Tradition of Excellence in a spectacular way this year.

The squad swept every category they could win. With championships in 1) The Varsity Super Big Category 2) On the parents and boosters category for the CANAM Crazies, 3) In the Stunt Category, and 4) With a Number one Individual Cheerleader award for Breanna Meeks.

National champions: Home to heroes welcome

The blue Shockley Tour coach carrying the National Champion Adair County High School cheerleaders home to a heroes welcome was led into town by a vanguard of police and emergency vehicles jubilantly leading the way with sirens screaming and horn blowing. The entourage included dozens of vehicles decorated for the procession into town; many had made the 560 mile trip to Myrtle Beach and back with the cheerleaders. The Adair Countians swept every major category at the CANAM National Competition which was possible.

National Champions, back home at Adair Co. High School

The Best of the Best - A Tradition of Excellence: The National Champion Super Big Varsity Cheerleading champions of America. The Adair County High School Cheerleaders were back at Adair County High School yesterday afternoon after accomplishing all they dreamed or hoped of doing at the CANAM national competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and were proudly displaying the permanent banner and the huge trophies they won there. The importance of their victory was affirmed by the huge turnout waiting for them at the school, and, again last night, when Superintendent Darrell Treece made special note of the cheerleaders at the Adair County Board of Education meeting. Coach Julie McQueary will be sending names to be added for this photo, later; but here's the Roster: The 2010-2011 ACHS Cheerleaders are Alex Matney, Molly Keen, Keri Legg, Breanna Meeks, Jayce Stone. Lauren Bridgewater, Rachel Burris, Peyton Antle, Taylor Hodges, Casey Hadley, Brooklyn Wilson, Danielle Foster, Lauren Janes, Keri Beth Rowe, Danielle Robertson, Katie Stone, Cynthia Smith, Sarah Howard, Hayley McQueary, Aliza Martin, Rachel Stephens, Ashley Perkins, Kelsie Redmon, Cally Wilson, Angel Burton, Madelyn Murrell, Tessa Pyles and Shelby Rodgers. The Coaches are Julie McQueary and Jessica VanArsdale.

A Tradition of Excellence: ACHS cheerleaders

Ballou Twin Loreta Adams, who held cheers for four years at Adair County High School on a squad which included her sister Juanita (McQueary now) wouldn't have missed the arrival of the champions caravan coming over Jamestown Hill in the background. Her granddaughter, Molly Keen, is a cheerleader. Barger Insurance, where Molly's dad Stephen Keen works, was decked out in "Molly" signs. Mrs. Adams was a member of the acknowledge greatest class ever, ACHS 1958, a vintage year. Just ask us. -Ed Waggener, ACHS 1958
