Mr. Nathaniel Thurman Milby, 76, of Summersville, KY, went home to meet the Lord at his home surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, March 14, 2011.

The funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel Thurman Milby will be conducted at 10amCT, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Rev. Ron Ferree and Bro. Chester VanDyke will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pm until 8pmCT, Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Thursday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers are Joshua Milby, Lucas Milby, Stephen Bishop, David P. Milby, Jimmy Durrett, Barry Milby, Kevin Milby, Kenny Chase, Jonah Sidebottom, Michael Puckett, Jason Covey, and Alton Junear Milby.

Honorary pallbearers: Larry and Sandi Moran, D.J. and Sue Davis, James Smith, Matt Goodin, Jim and Juanita McIntosh, Joe Wayne Milby, and Dean Lewis Warren.

Nathaniel Thurman Milby, Green Co., KY (1934-2011)

Mr. Nathaniel Thurman Milby, was the son of the late Jim R. Milby and Virgie Alice Milby. He was born on Sunday, November 18, 1934 and went home to meet the Lord at his home surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, March 14, 2011. He was 76 years, three months and 24 days of age.

He united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Lobb on December 28, 1956. He spent the first two years of their marriage serving in the United States Army at Fort Knox, KY. After completing two years in the military he returned to Green County where he farmed as long as his health permitted.

Mr. Milby made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith. He served three years as an elder in the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and nine years as an elder in the Caneyville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Other survivors include the following:

  • Three sons and a daughter-in-law: Sherrell Nathaniel Milby of Grayson Co., KY; Stephen Neal Milby of Hardin Co, KY; Brian Kent and June Milby of Taylor Co., KY

  • A sister and brother-in-law: Adell and Joe Martin of Louisville, KY

  • Four brothers and seven sisters-in-law: Lucian and Mardell Milby of Indiana, Alton and Ruby Milby, Charles and Jean Milby and Ronnie O. and Pat Milby all of Green Co., KY; , Mary Milby, Adean Milby and Nancy Milby all of Summersville, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Christina Michelle Bishop and her husband Stephen, Joshua Milby and Lucas Milby

  • Four great-grandchildren: Madison, Noah and Logan Bishop and Destiny Milby

  • Three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Milby was also preceded in death by a daughter: Ann Patrice Milby in 1964.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Gideon Bible Fund, Hosparus of Central Kentucky, the Heart or Lung Association, which can be made at the funeral home.

The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
