Adair County English: Wadn't fer little
By Ludora Feese Perkins
How about "wadn't fer little"?
Ever heard that one?
When one of my daughers was attending Midway College, she replied to some friends who had asked her to go somewhere with them that, "Wadn't fer little, I'd go."
They looked at her trying to figure out what foreign tongue she was using.
I don't know if that phrase were only used by my family or if it is an Adair Co. one. (If it wasn't (weren't) for a little bit) I'd do it. (I'm tempted to do that.)
I haven't heard anyone use that wording in a long time.
